4-year check-up
The 4-year check-up is an annual developmental review at preschool age: growth, vision, speech and coordination. A free visit within the Polish system.
What to expect
A routine annual check-up. The doctor will assess progress and provide referrals if needed.
What the doctor checks
- Weight and height — Checking centile charts — whether the child is growing properly.
- Speech — Assessment of pronunciation, fluency, understanding, and ability to build more complex sentences.
- Graphomotor skills — Whether the child draws a person with a head and limbs and copies simple shapes.
- Vision — Visual acuity check — important because vision problems can affect learning.
- Behaviour — Assessment of attention span, peer relationships, and emotional regulation.
What to ask your doctor
- Is the child holding a pencil correctly?
- How can we develop attention and concentration?
- Would an eye examination be worthwhile?
- How should we deal with fears?
- When should a child be able to write their own name?
