6-year check-up
The 6-year check-up is the examination before starting primary school: growth, vision, hearing, posture and speech development. The DTP + IPV booster is also given at this age. Free in Poland.
What to expect
A comprehensive pre-school examination including blood pressure measurement and booster vaccinations. The doctor will issue a medical certificate for school.
What the doctor checks
- Blood pressure — The first routine blood pressure check — part of the standard from age 6.
- Vision and hearing — A detailed check — normal vision and hearing are essential before school.
- Height and weight — Assessment of whether the child is within the normal centile range, including BMI review.
- Vaccinations — Catching up on missing vaccinations and giving booster doses (DTP, MMR).
- School readiness — Final readiness assessment — issuing the certificate for school.
