Chickenpox (varicella)

The chickenpox vaccine prevents the disease and its complications. In Poland it is recommended and, for most children, paid; the course is 2 doses starting from 9–15 months.

Protects against

• Chickenpox
• Shingles later in life
• Bacterial complications of chickenpox

Doses

• When 1: From 9 months
• When 2: From 15 months or before school

• Does the vaccine also protect against shingles?
• When should the second dose be given?
• Can my child still attend nursery after vaccination?
